If you are a kid who loves books, then Byron Writers Festival’s ‘Kids Big Day Out’ is the ultimate event for you. It kicks off at 8.30am Sunday 4 August with Spaghetti Circus roving performers, the prelude to a jam-packed day of entertainment that will set young imaginations on fire.
The main program will see the Greenstone Partners marquee transform into a giant immersive storytelling arena with MCs, Shep Huntly and Simi Genziuk. Authors and illustrators will take to the stage to give a behind-the-scenes insight into their creative process and what has inspired their books. These interactive presentations are extremely popular entertainment for kids and parents alike.
As well as the action onstage, kids can explore the StoryBoard StorySpace where the famous StoryBoard bus and tipi village comes alive with free drop-in workshops for aspiring young writers and illustrators.
Kids Big Day Out passes are $40 and include one child 6-12 years old and one accompanying adult, $20 for each additional child.
This year we have also introduced the new Sunday Family Pass, which gives access for one child 6-12 years old and two accompanying adults. Children gain access to Kids Big Day Out marquee only and must be accompanied by at least one adult at all times, allowing the second adult to enjoy the full program throughout the site. The Sunday Family Pass costs $120 for one child and two adults, $20 for each additional child.
