The Young Writers Short Story competition for our local young writers aged between 13 and 21 years is now OPEN!
The competition is open to all residents of the Northern Rivers area (from Tweed Heads in the north, to Taree in the south, and west to Kyogle).
First prize includes $1,000 to go towards skills development and furthering the winner’s writing career, as well as a 1 day Byron Writers Festival pass, award presentation at the Festival, and publication of the winning story in northerly, the bi-monthly magazine of the Byron Writers Festival.
Runner-up prize is $300 cash reward and will also have their story published in the bi-monthly magazine, northerly
Be aged 13-21 years
Be a resident of the Byron Writers Festival catchment area which extends north to Tweed Heads, south to Taree and west to Kyogle.
Enter a story that has not been published elsewhere (either in print or electronically) and has not won any previous awards.
Be available to accept the award on Friday 4 August at the Byron Writers Festival
