Byron Writers Festival is thrilled to present two special full-day workshops, one for primary and one for secondary teachers, on inspiring creativity in students. Fuel your creative fire while learning how to ignite it in your students.
The Tall Tales and True workshops are designed to show teachers how to engage both reluctant and excited students, and how to effectively teach creative writing and embed creativity as a core principle in the classroom. With an introductory presentation by workshop host Siboney Duff on the science of creativity and the benefits of the creative classroom, as well as guest presentations by authors Zanni Louise (Primary) and Sarah Armstrong (Secondary) and a Southern Cross University guest creative writing lecturer, the workshop will be, at once, informative and enjoyable.

Siboney has worked as a freelance writer, editor, and manuscript assessor for over fifteen years. She has a deep love of the Extension 2 English course and has taught and mentored Extension 2 English students for several years. A qualified English teacher, Siboney has a Master of Philosophy in Creative Writing (UQ) and is about to embark on her PhD in Creative Writing. Siboney has also been a HSC marker of both Extension 1 and Extension 2 English.
