Mandy Nolan – Dirty Laundry: Writing About Your Family
Our families are full of secrets, dysfunctions, love and betrayal. When it comes to looking for grand story plots sometimes what we’re after is right there in our backyard. But do we have the courage to dig deep? And can we remember what REALLY happened? Does that even matter? In her one-day workshop
Mandy will be encouraging writers to reflect on their family stories, both the ones they were born into and the ones they have grown to create. Mandy believes it is possible to write without necessarily upsetting the applecart, although sometimes carts need to be upset. The workshop will find those quirky, unusual stories that even you have forgotten and most importantly try and drill down into the person that every family-based memoir is about: YOU. Mandy Nolan’s workshop will have you fleshing out those skeletons from your family closet, throwing the doors wide open for all the world to see.
Mandy Nolan-As a comedian and writer Nolan’s work is sharp, honest, sometimes self-depreciating, somewhat outrageous, but never cruel or pretentious. Irreverent, outrageous and always on point, Nolan lives her life without a filter.
