Debbie Lee and Robin Cutler will introduce you to the world of print-on-demand and global distribution. As a former publisher, Debbie can talk you through the process from written manuscript to the production of files, including the importance of editing, choosing the right format, and cover design. You will learn how breakthrough technology allows you to print just what you need, when you need it. No more guess work on print runs, and no more boxes of books in your lounge!
The difference between traditional publishers, vanity presses and self-publishing platforms will be addressed so you can make an informed decision about the best way forward. The workshop will also cover why metadata matters, and how your book can be made available to thousands of retailers around the world. You control the regions and you set the price. Books are printed to order in real time, no stock required.
The session will cover process, costs and marketing, drawing on actual examples with publishers large and small, first-timers and seasoned pros.
‘The world of publishing is no longer a closed shop. Authors anywhere can have their work in print, whether just for their own purposes such as a personalised gift or a family biography; or a professional resource for a specific market; or indeed the next great novel, for sale around the world. The power of publishing lies in the authors’ hands.’ Debbie Lee
