Lian Tanner has worked as a teacher, a tourist bus driver, a juggler, an editor and a professional actor. She has been dynamited while scuba diving and arrested while busking. She once spent a week in the jungles of Papua New Guinea, hunting for a Japanese soldier left over from the Second World War. It took her a while to realise that all this was preparation for becoming a writer.
Lian’s best-selling Keepers Trilogy has been translated into eleven languages. Museum of Thieves won an Aurealis Award for Best Australian Children’s Fantasy, was shortlisted for a number of awards including the Adelaide Festival Award for Children’s Literature, and was selected as one of the Bank Street Children’s Book Committee’s Best Children’s Books of the Year (USA). City of Lies, the second book in the trilogy, also won an Aurealis Award.
Lian’s second series, The Hidden, was shortlisted for two Aurealis Awards. The first book, Ice Breaker, was a CBCA Notable Book, and all three books received starred reviews from School Library Journal (USA).
The Rogues trilogy, Lian’s latest series, began with Accidental Heroes in 2017. Secret Guardians will be published in 2018.
