Byron Writers Festival’s 2021 Primary Schools Digital Program connects Northern Rivers students with Australia’s best-loved children’s authors and illustrators.

The on-demand digital program will be available to stream from your classroom for four weeks from Monday 23 August (Book Week). Sessions will be accessible from this page, and can be viewed via YouTube.

Gavin Aung Than’s first series for children, Super Sidekicks, grew out of Gavin’s long-time obsession with superheroes. This fun-filled action adventure series is about four superhero sidekicks who are fed up with taking orders from their adult partners and decide to form their own team.

Davina Bell’s All the Ways to be Smart demonstrates a unique ability to reveal to children their strengths and singularity by recognising that there are many ways to excel in life. In these challenging times this book is a valuable tool in bolstering a child’s confidence.

Amie Kaufman’s The World Between Blinks centres on a land where everything that is lost can be found. It is filled with treasures, but perhaps not those that first spring to mind. Drawing on history and mythology Amie Kaufman has created a world to delight and enlighten the young reader.

Oliver Phommavanh’s most recent book Brain Freeze is a crazy collection of funny short stories from the wacky mind of bestselling Thai-riffic! author, featuring characters who are all finding a way to step up and be brave.
