About School Visits

Your StoryBoard Visit

Cost

StoryBoard is a FREE presentation/workshop experience for all Northern Rivers schools (maximum three hours). We ask the schools to provide morning tea for the author and volunteer tutor.

What’s included

Generally, we offer one visit to each school, every year. However, your school can go on the waiting list for a second visit. If we get a cancellation or a spare booking, we will be in touch.

Most of our Chief Storytellers offer students a combination of a whole school presentation and a writing workshop for a smaller group, depending on your school’s requirements. We have a range of exciting presentations and workshops on offer. Learn more here

You are welcome to invite as many students as you like to attend the author presentation. Many schools invite every student. Our creative writing workshops, however, are for max. 25 students.

We recommend:

  • 1 hour workshop for lower primary
  • 1 hour 15 min workshop for upper primary
  • 90 min workshop for secondary

How do students get selected for inclusion in the workshop(s)?

We wish we could offer every student in your school the opportunity to participate in the workshop; however, we cap workshops at 25 students to allow for maximum engagement.

As you know your students best, we ask you to select a mix of students based on their love of writing, their need for enhanced writing confidence and creative sparks, or their desire to be challenged.  You will see this diversity in most classes. However, if you do have a group of keen writers from different classes, feel free to select them!

Time

StoryBoard workshops are scheduled to fit within your school’s timetable.

Our visits are generally scheduled between 9am – 12.30pm, with lunch between 11 – 11.30am.

Our schedule though is flexible, and we will work with you to find the best fit.

Our online booking enquiry form asks you for your bell times so we can create a suggested schedule for you.

How to book a workshop

Follow the steps below to book a workshop. If you are unsure about which workshop is suitable for your class or school, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
